Wellbytes provides digital administration for employer Health Spending Accounts (HSAs), including the claim and account functions available under the accepted agreement. Digital tools support the process; plan eligibility, records, employer funding and review still determine whether an expense can be reimbursed.

Confirm the benefit being administered

A Canadian HSA reimburses eligible employee medical expenses within a documented allowance. It is not a personal investment account or an insurance policy for unlimited medical costs.

Check covered people, expenses, claim deadlines and the actual account tools before launch.

Budget for reimbursements and administration

Wellbytes’ current Pay-As-You-Use administration fee is 10% of eligible reimbursements plus applicable taxes, with no setup or recurring subscription fee. The employer also funds the reimbursements. Prepaid arrangements and third-party charges follow their separate accepted terms.

Medical benefits under a qualifying Private Health Services Plan (PHSP) are generally non-taxable federally to employees. Québec applies separate provincial taxable-benefit rules. Employer deductions depend on incurred business costs, employment purpose and reasonableness; an unused allowance alone is not a deduction.

An incorporated owner must establish that the benefit arises from employment rather than merely shareholding.

Assign responsibilities and support

Wellbytes supports plan and claim administration. The employer retains funding and applicable plan, payroll and tax responsibilities.

Confirm available account views, update timing and support terms. Review employee feedback and actual costs instead of assuming improved retention or health outcomes.

Compare the agreement with your administration needs and existing insurance before enrolling.
